Horse Racing Systems - Do They Ever Work?
"The World and his wife have, at one time or another experimented with horse racing systems but the question is, do any of them actually work and the straight, blunt, to the point answer is, in the short term maybe, in the long term certainly not! Everywhere you look, on the internet, in the post or more annoyingly choking your inbox, there are numerous horse racing system that promise to make your fortune for you in a matter of days and from a minimal starting bank. Now we have bought some (not all) of these so called gifts from above, allegedly based on years of research, yet somehow they did not enable to live on a beach in the Bahamas sipping another cocktail so clearly all is not what it seems to the innocent punter.
The problem is, as they say in financial circles, past performance is no guarantee of future success, and I would even go so far as to guess that every system on the market today is based on what we call back fitting, the use of past racing results to predict the future, which is as useful as a chocolate teapot.
eg. Yes I admit that draw bias is a relevant tool but to back certain draws at certain courses is betting suicide as is doubling your money favourite after favourite (a wonderful so-called horse racing system that has been sold by conmen since betting began), and is the quickest route to selling The Big Issue.
There are plenty of computer programmes available these days that can be used to check past results as pointers to the future, but do they really tell the whole story like a genuine reliable form guide, I don’t think so. By definition systems need to be simplified for their target audience, the 'get rich quick brigade' who naively think that (for example) backing the first race favourite at Newbury if it is less than 4/1 and also tipped by their daily newspaper tipster is a way to fame and fortune ... which it undoubtedly is, but only for the crooks who sell such a horse racing system !
