"Horse racing software varies as much as the weather and comes in prices to sort all pockets from £19.99 to literally thousands of pounds as punters everywhere seek the elusive Holy Grail of betting, something that finds all the winners. Sadly, I can safely say no such thing exists, as witnessed by the existence of our old enemies. the bookmakers and their regular annual profits. The fact is, and it is a bitter pill to swallow, there is simply no such thing as horse racing software that finds ALL the winners as horses are animals, not machines, and can be influenced by bad weather, time of year, attention of other horses, the sulks, poor jockeyship, and so on.
The fact that advertisers are inclined to imply unlimited success is a worry in itself and if anyone ever invented some horse racing software that accurate it would simply be bought by a bookmaker consortium and never see the light of day. Some available in the market place are so simplistic when broken down that you wonder why they even need a computer's power at all, while others cover too much information but leave it up to you to set up your own filters, something I have tried I admit but always run out of patience without a great deal more success than using a pin!
Practically, we really need to be looking for something advertised less aggressively, with more realistic claims, and preferably where you can purchase their ratings on a monthly basis so you can pull the plug if you don’t like the product.
That forces them to pay for further development from their own pocket and to keep on their toes to ensure the profits keep flowing whereas a one off purchase severs all links between seller and user and leaves you rather on your own and in the dark.
While it is certain that no one piece of horse racing software is capable of selecting the winner of every race there are options available which, if used correctly will give the punter a slight 'edge' over the bookmaker. The one advantage that the punter has over his rival is that he has the choice of whether to bet in a particular race; a luxury that is not available to the bookmaker."
